Things You Need to Get Started in the Wonderful World of Kayaking
Once you've made the decision to purchase a kayak, the next question is often "What else do I need?". That, my friend, is a dangerous question. The fine line between want and need becomes a bit blurred when discussing accessory options with a passionate paddler. You will find, as you progress in paddling, that your needs will change depending on your paddling style, where you paddle, and who you paddle with. But before you squirm at the seemingly open-endedness of this answer, take heart that there are really only 3 Paddling Essentials*.

Keep in mind this simple equation when deciding what garments you need for Cold Weather Paddling:
Air and Water Temperature Combined < 120 degrees: YOU MUST WEAR WET SUIT!
Air and Water Temperature Combined < 100 degrees: DRY SUIT RECOMMENDED!
Minimum Protection: Layered Synthetics (always remember: Cotton Kills) under Wet Suit and a Dry Top.
Air and Water Temperature Combined < 80 Degrees: (Paddle with caution!) YOU MUST WEAR A DRY SUIT!
