Calendar of Events for May 2008

Hello Everyone,
Our paddling season has officially started!! We are offering Demo Paddles at various locations as well as "Get to Know Your Kayak" Lessons for those of you that have purchased kayaks from us. We will not be charging a fee for either the demos or the lessons. However, if you would like to attend one of our complimentary Lesson programs, we will need you to call the shop to let us know which session you will be attending, what model of kayak you have and whether or not you will need a shorty wetsuit. Great Lakes Kayak provides Demo Paddles throughout the summer to give you, the paddler, a chance to try out the most innovatively designed kayaks on the market! Please join in on some or all of the great paddling opportunities listed below:

Thursday, May 15
Demo Paddle from 5:00 - 7:30 PM @ Big Bear Lake, Century Park, Vernon Hills. Open to everyone, weather permitting.

Saturday, May 17
Northwest Passage Paddling Extravaganza! 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM @ Gillson Park, Wilmette, IL (alternate location - Skokie Lagoons). Come on out and try kayaking for FREE! Great Lakes Kayak will have all models available for test paddling. There is no pre-registration for this event - it is first-come, first served! This program is designed to allow at least 20 minutes of kayaking for every participant. If time allows, you will have the opportunity to kayak longer and try out different kayaks.

Friday, May 23 - Monday, May 26
The 2008 WMCKA (Western Michigan Coastal Kayakers' Association) Symposium will take place at Camp Pendalouan on Big Blue Lake. For more information on this event, please visit WMCKA's symposium page: www.wmcka.org/symposium.php

Thursday, May 29
Demo Paddle from 5:00 - 7:30 PM @ Big Bear Lake, Century Park, Vernon Hills. Open to everyone, weather permitting.

Saturday, May 31
Get to Know Your Kayak Lesson from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM @ Lake Andrea, Pleasant Prairie, WI. (For New Owners of Great Lakes Kayak "Kayaks" purchased in 2007 or 2008. You must pre-register for this class.)
Demo Paddle from 1:00 - 3:00 PM @ Lake Andrea, Pleasant Prairie, WI. Open to everyone, weather permitting.
